I tried out ChatGPT for the first time this week. Sure I might be late to the party but curiosity finally got the better of me.
I've seen a lot of different applications for this AI model but the one that piqued my curiosity is a tool for improving my writing.
As a competent reader & writer, I wasn't quite convinced of this tool's ability to put us all out of our jobs just yet. So I wanted to test its ability to help me generate some emails.
Scenario: I needed to decline work on a project due to time commitments.
Here's the prompt and the response:
A little too formal for my taste. So I asked for a less formal email:
IMO this isn't a perfect email. There is a bit of tweaking I'd do before sending it, but grammatically speaking the email works well and gets the point across. Everyone has a different writing style so that will be reflected in how you work with the results.
As a starting point for key ideas to expand upon, ChatGPT works well in this scenario.
After this little experiment, I'm definitely going to continue trying out ChatGPT to see what other applications it can have for my work. I'm excited to see how it evolves.
Let's get started.
