I have a confession to make.

This week I sat down and watched Sister Act on an old DVD player.

In the current age of digital media where everything is streamed or served up to us from some amorphous cloud, I reverted back to an older medium. Plus I really enjoyed it.

The reason for this was I recently received an old Sony DVD player someone didn't want anymore so I eagerly sat down to test it out.

The tactile act of taking a DVD out of its case, pressing the eject button to open the DVD tray, and popping in the disc, was all a lot of fun. I didn't even mention using the remote to select Play Movie or Bonus Material. How many Netflix shows have built-in bonus material 😅

The movie itself was just like I remembered it and once I made my way through Sister Act I finally opened up my Sopranos box set and started from episode 1.

I suppose my point here is it's easy to feel disenchanted with the internet right now but you don't have to settle for that.

There are plenty of things to experience outside of the internet: watching DVDs, going to the cinema, knitting (I'm seriously considering taking this hobby back up), painting, and photography. So many different types of creative things that don't involve mouse clicks or endless scrolling.

Try something different this week, even if just for 15 minutes. Your creative mindset will thank you!

Let's get started.
