First Principles: The Building Blocks of True Knowledge

First principles thinking is where you break an idea down into its smallest parts and rebuilt it from the ground up. This allows you to reverse engineer complicated problems to produce great results.
Notable people that apply first principles thinking are Aristotle and Charlie Munger.
Children are exceptionally good at thinking in first principles. They ask why a lot to try to get to the core of a problem or question they have. "The five whys".
Using a Work Journal to Create Design Case Studies

A work journal is a great resource for building case studies for your portfolio. Case studies are a great way to showcase your skills and experience to potential clients or job recruiters.
For each project you work on, create a dedicated folder or page where you collect all info related to that project. Schedule regular check-ins with yourself for 15 minutes to journal and reflect on your day.
At the end of each project, have a retrospective where you look back at what went well, what didn’t, and what you learned from the project.
