Hello and welcome back to Design Insight 👋
This week I revamped my LinkedIn profile and created a separate page for my creative work. If you’re looking to connect on LinkedIn click this link.
Let's get started.

Why the UX discussion around Elden Ring is flawed
The article in 3 ideas:
Conventional best practices don’t work for every scenario. Consider the intention behind your product to understand how it should behave.
The intention behind a product will completely change how you experience it. Photoshop and Instagram both allow for photo editing but they are 2 completely different experiences.
“UX is more about more than just convenience. It is the expression of creative intent, that can have many goals.”
The Collector’s Fallacy - Zettelkasten Method
The article in 3 ideas:
It's easy to fall into the Collector's Fallacy of collecting lots of information that may be useful at some point in the future. It's in our nature to collect.
This collection of saved information is of no use to us unless we make an active effort to process and assimilate the information into our own knowledge management system. This is how we learn.
By developing a PKM with excellent hand-crafted notes, you won't have to refer back to the source material or to Google. You can simply refer to your own repository of notes.
Hedonic treadmill
The article in 3 ideas:
The hedonic treadmill, (AKA hedonic adaptation), is the observed tendency of humans to quickly return to a relatively stable level of happiness despite major positive or negative events or life changes.
For example: as a person makes more money, expectations and desires rise in tandem, which results in no permanent gain in happiness.
There are three types of processes in hedonic adaptation: shifting adaptation levels, desensitization, and sensitization.
